ARHS at Halifax Public Gardens
In June 2025, the ARHS hosted the American Rhododendron Society Convention, the first spring ARS Convention in eastern Canada. To commemorate this event the Public Gardens planted a carpet bed based on the ARS 2025 logo in the south east part of the gardens near the rhododendron collection. On Tuesday, September 2nd come and view the carpet bed and hear from Sean Street, Supervisor of Horticulture for the Public Gardens, on the design, planting and maintenance of the ARS 2025 carpet bed. This will be followed by a tour of the Public Gardens and a chance to enjoy the gardens.
At 5:00 pm, the discussion will continue at the Auditorium of the Nova Scotia Museum of Natural History on Summer Street, one block north of the NW gate of the Public Gardens. Judith Cabrita, President of the Friends of the Public Gardens and Jim Sharpe, President of the Atlantic Rhododendron and Horticultural Society will present ideas on how we can work together to promote Rhodos and horticulture in Atlantic Canada. Come and join the discussion. This will be followed by a reception with light refreshments to celebrate the success of the ARS 2025 Convention from June 5-8.
