The pictures are from John Brett’s one acre garden situated on a sheltered bay in Morris Island, in the southwest coast of Nova Scotia, favoring a milder winter with zones 6a/7a. ARHS member,  He and his late father and mother, has been gardening this location at Morris Island for 40 years. These are large, mature plants.  A diverse collection of rhododendrons are the result of experimentation, thanks to Dick Steele and John Weagle,

The garden includes unusual species and hybrids that may survive in Nova Scotia (some successes, some failures)  These are: Dichroanthum, cinnibaranum, thomsonii, sutchuenense, calophytum, augustinii, Fortunei,  Strigillosum, indicum, simsii, Fictolacteum, Peter Wharton collections ( glanduliferum, ariculatum, etc…) Biskra, Yellowgate, Goldstrike , Baden Baden, orbiculare,  Oreotrephes, Elizabeth, Taurus, Grace Seabrook, Johnny Bender, Halfdan Lem, Vulcan’s Flame, the Josef Brueckner collections, Fortunei, Henry Dupont, Phyllis Korn, Vinecrest, Spellbinder etc.
