Breeding for a Cold Climate – Sixty Year of Hybridizing in Nova Scotia
February 24, 2015 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
John Weagle will review the challenges and advantages of our Nova Scotian climate – wet, foggy, windy, stormy – for growing and breeding rhododendrons. From the early ‘ironclads’, he will lead us through the breeding work of Don Craig, George Swain, Capt. Steele, and Joe Brueckner to recent breeding work and testing of varieties and species with promise for “this unruly climate of the North Atlantic.”
